Lesson 42 | Musical Timing
Tuning your dance instrument, aka your body, to express the music exactly as you feel, in the moment, is completely liberating, and the most powerful skill you can have as a dancer.
Musical timing means you change the timing of your dancing when and however you feel based on how the music makes you feel. You are permitting your body to be a vessel for the physical expression of music.
4-2-1 is the best exercise, hands down, in training yourself to naturally move to the timing of the music. I recommend you practice this exercise indefinitely.
Each song has different timings. Some songs have few timings, and some have many. Physically expressing all the timings the music offers you is the definition of musical timing.
