Lesson 12 | Partner Positions
A partner position is the physical positioning between you and your partner. There are four defined positions, the first one being Facing. Let’s learn two more, Promenade and Outside Partner, and how to freely transition between them as you dance.
In French, promenade means “to go for a walk.” The Promenade position is side-by-side with your partner, belly buttons facing the same direction.
Use the root moves to transition between the Facing and Promenade positions.
With Outside Partner you are in front of your partner, similar to Facing; however, your belly button is aligned with your partner’s hip. You can be either outside left or outside right, and when moving forward or backward both your legs travel outside of your partner’s.
Use all the root moves to transition and play between Facing, Promenade, and Outside Partner.
